Matty update: Several tournaments this summer
Johnston wins biggest tournament in Manitoba
*Matt wins in Minitoba

(Monitoba 7/23/2006) Matty Johnston has been playing lots of tournaments this summer and just won the Manitoba Amateur, the province's biggest tournament on Friday by three shots, with scores of 69, 72, 70 and 72. Players he beat included Rob McMillan, Glen Hnatiuk (PGA Tour player), George Knudson (multiple PGA tour wins and one of the best ball strikers of all time) , all having won in the past.
"The Manitoba Amateur was a tournament that I always wanted to win," reports Matty, "As players like It was a fun week - my dad was on the bag caddying and in front of the home crowd it was lots of fun."
Matt made a 15 footer from the fringe on the 18th hole to finish the tournament with a sizzle.
The previous week, Johnston played in the MTS Classic (a Canadian Tour event) on a sponsors exemption.
"Although I didn't score the way I wanted to," says Matty. "Playing in professional events with the ropes, tents, ect.. is always a good experience."
