Subject: Invitation to join the UTSA ChipIn Club
Dear Friend of UTSA Golf:
I am Chris Donielson, fourth year golf coach at the University of Texas/San Antonio, thanking you for the opportunity to introduce our UTSA men's golf program, the "ChipIn Club."
While we feature mostly Texas kids, each with a wonderful personal story, we also have an international flair. Mike Mezei, who was ranked the Canadian Male Golfer of the Year in 2002 and has competed in his first PGA tour event, the Canadian Open, freshman Kitt Thabungkan, Thailand's top ranked amateur and winner of 47 junior events throughout the world, and freshman Matt Johnston from Winnipeg, winner of the Manitoba Amateur and who competed in the US Amateur this past summer. You can meet each one of the kids in our media guide included in this portfolio. We have our sights on a Top Ten national ranking. This will not only be outstanding for the team and UTSA, but also bring a national spotlight to the city of San Antonio.
The ChipIn Club is vital for the success of our golf program. It provides a special opportunity for you to become involved with our team and the individual players. The ChipIn Club idea came from my days as a coach at the national champion University of Oklahoma. We expanded the concept during my six years at Tulane University and enjoyed tremendous success with events in New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Florida.
Our focus is to build a ChipIn Club support team. We have three levels of sponsorship opportunity for you, i.e., Player Donor ($250), Medalist Donor ($1,000) and Founder Donor ($2,500/$5,000). These funds allow us to be on an equal playing field with those teams that have larger budgets. Scholarship, recruiting and team travel are the greatest need at this point.
The ChipIn Club Advisory Board meets the second Thursday each month in the La Cantera Resort Grill. Plans are made and programs coordinated to support the men's golf team. This group of eight to ten people will be the foundation and decision making committee that will steer the ChipIn Club through these important building times. We will always welcome additional members who have the time, interest and energy to support college golf.
Jon Broadhead serves as the first President of the UTSA ChipIn Club. Jon is a Senior Vice President with World Savings, one of the nations leading home lenders.
After you have looked over the material in this portfolio, Jon, myself, or one of the staff will be in touch with you to answer any questions, and to invite you to join the ChipIn Club.
